ROYAL SCHOOL OF CHURCH MUSIC ST. LOUIS
Bless, O, Lord, us Thy servants who minister in Thy temple. Grant that what we sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts and what we believe in our hearts we may show fourth in our lives. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
I will sing with the spirit and with the understanding
Psallam Spiritu et Mente
For 20 years this is truly a camp for everyone! From boys and girls in the beginning stages of singing in a choir to advanced teens and adults will enjoy the repertoire and inspirational music making available at this course. With a special emphasis on the boy's changing voice, this course is highly recommended for adolescent boys. Participants will spend the week singing, playing games, enjoying fun activities and growing in fellowship. Adult participants will rehearse daily with the choristers and have the opportunity each day to meet for educational sessions and discussions. Opportunities to observe the guest music director in rehearsal are an additional experience for adults. We all come together to praise God with music and make a wonderful community that is like a family!
ROYAL SCHOOL OF CHURCH MUSIC ST. LOUIS AT A GLANCE
A BIT ABOUT US
RSCM St. Louis is apart of RSCM America which is a branch of the Royal School of Church Music in the United States. This ecumenical organization is committed to helping church musicians uplift the spiritual life of their communities through high quality choral music. As part of their music education efforts, RSCM America provides summer music courses for singers of all ages and denominations. RSCM St. Louis has been one of these courses since 1998.
Boys and girls in the beginning stages of singing in a choir to advanced teens and adults will enjoy the repertoire and inspirational music-making available at this course. All singers receive instructional attention to music theory, ear training, and development of producing a beautiful vocal sound. Adult participants rehearse daily with the choristers and have the opportunity each day to meet for educational sessions and discussions. When not rehearsing, young people and adults alike have ample opportunities for social interaction and activities. Each day is rounded off with nightly evensong and a moving compline service to provide time for prayer and reflection.
RSCM St. Louis was begun in 1998 by former course manager Phillip Brunswick. The first camp was held at Kenrick Seminary, and the following year the course moved to Fontbonnne University. Fontbonne was the course home until we moved to our current site at Todd Hall Retreat Center in 2002.
