A Memorial Anthem: Remembering Debra Nethercott

This past December of 2019, we lost our dear friend Debra Nethercott.

Debra participated in the very first St. Louis Course and became very involved in RSCM as a result of that experience. She attended every year for over twenty years. She served as Adult Coordinator, Adult Housemaster, Treble Housemaster, Assistant Manager and Manager for the course. She will be most remembered though by those who were privileged to be around her at the various courses for her ready kindness, infectious sense of joy, and her willingness to help anyone who needed it without any judgment on their abilities.

A new anthem by Simon Lole has been commissioned in Debra's memory. The anthem will be sung when the St. Louis Course next meets in the summer of 2021.

The cost of such an endeavor cannot be absorbed by the course which runs on basically a zero-out budget each year. We must raise the money for this very fitting and honorable tribute above and beyond course resources.

Please consider if you might be able and willing to contribute to this effort. No amount is too small (nor too large!). Simply click on the Donate button below to give through PayPal, or you may pay by check made out to RSCM St. Louis with 'Memorial Anthem' written on the memo line, and mail it to our Financial Officer at:

About the St. Louis Course

Boys and girls in the beginning stages of singing in a choir to advanced teens and adults will enjoy the repertoire and inspirational music-making available at the St. Louis Course. All singers receive instructional attention to music theory, ear training, and development of producing a beautiful vocal sound. Adult participants rehearse daily with the choristers and have the opportunity each day to meet for educational sessions and discussions. When not rehearsing, young people and adults alike have ample opportunities for social interaction and activities. Each day concludes with services of Evensong and a Compline.

The course is held at the Todd Hall Retreat Center in Columbia, Illinois. The final services of this year's course will be held Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church in Ladue, Mo. and the magnificent Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis.
